Graphic Image of Thermal Biomass Technology

Moench, Inc. specializes in clean and efficient thermal conversion of coarse-chopped (as harvested) herbaceous biomass (HB), crop residues, grasses, and other HB energy crops WITHOUT energy-intensive pre-processing such as pelletizing, cubing, or briquetting.  This process saves the HUGE time and expense involved in intermediate steps AS WELL as transportation costs.  We can also consult on efficient use of herbaceous biomass materials--"the future of biomass".  Email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.

Crop Residues and Dedicated Energy Crops as Fuels

This unique renewable energy technology can effectively utilize Earth’s lowest cost thermal energy source—massive quantities of crop residues and fast-growing grasses.  These biomass sources include: the straw from wheat, flax, rice, oats, rye, barley, cornstalks (stover); reed canary grass; orchard grass, oil seed rape; important emerging energy crops such as giant reed grass, miscanthus, switchgrass, high biomass sorghum, and giant cane.

Common agricultural equipment can be used to harvest the feedstocks for this completely new type of herbaceous biomass (HB) thermal conversion equipment.  Typical harvesting/processing equipment includes flail choppers, combines with chopper heads, rakes, balers, TMR's, hay processors, etc.  We have designed our thermal processing technology around EXISTING forage/hay/grain harvesting equipment that ELIMINATES the need for purchasing expensive additional equipment.

Flexible Product Splits--Pyrolysis, Torrefaction, OR Gasification of HB

We are also currently developing distributed or "satellite" sized plants (close to farms) that can process 4 tons per hour (3 Mwe) at local locations near the source of the HB "grassy" materials.  Our process is unique in that it can be used to produce SEVERAL end products instead of just one.  End products can include bio-oil, biochar, enriched syngas, steam, or electricity via CHP or generators.  Flexibilities include process heaters, heat exchangers, boilers, and absorption air conditioners/chillers. We can develop add-on modules to deliver hot water or hot air for space heating, crop drying, or other process needs.  We can easily customize our cutting-edge technology for many different feedstocks, particle/bale sizes, and moisture levels.  We can develop "front-end" core units that can be used to couple to existing equipment.  Email your requirements to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Technology Available

We will meet with interested equity investors/partners to acquire/license Moench Inc. technology and IP.  We are predominantly looking to the lower temperature processes because of improved environmental qualities (lower emissions, net carbon negative) and MUCH lower cost of this uniquie technology.  Upon inquiry, we offer live test/demonstrations of our unique technology.  Email for information and scheduling.
